Recruit With Conviction Training for Recruiters, Managers and Supervisors
The recruitment of people with convictions is daunting for anybody who has not experienced it. The words “offender” and “prison” strike fear and a host of negative stereotypes.
We have developed professional training packages to support you to overcome some of these fears and to understand the ethos of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Furthermore we have developed tools which help you to deal with disclosure of criminal records and how to assess the relevance of any criminal convictions.
By addressing the most difficult negative stereotype we provide a platform to develop much wider diversity in the workplace.
- Module 1 – Myths and Misconceptions:
During this module you will reflect on your own perceptions of ex-offenders and evaluate these thoughts. The opportunity to consider unconscious bias in a safe environment also supports much wider good practice in recruitment. By the end of the module you will understand any personal barriers you need to address before you can recruit with conviction.
- Module 2 – Risks, rights and responsibilities
During this module you will learn about the wider social and legal issues surrounding the employment of offenders.
- Module 3 – Dealing with Disclosure
During this module you will understand the obstacles to disclosure, how to conduct an interview professionally and how to assess the relevance.
